Hallie & Steve… Destination Wedding in Antigua Guatemala

November 12th, 2008 · 8 Comments

Destination Wedding in Guatemala:  Hallie & Steve Wedding

On October 25, 2008, Hallie and Steve had their ‘Destination Wedding’ in La Antigua Guatemala;  everyone invited came from different parts of the world.

I must say:  Hallie is one of the coolest brides I have ever had the opportunity of photographing!  she was so calm, relaxed and easy-going, as well as being quite pretty! What a blessing is to work with someone like her!

Something that cause a surprise on me was the fact that she arrived for her bridal session alone; there were no friends or family to help her as she arrived from the United States the night before the bridal session by herself and her family and friends would arrived two days before the wedding.

Can you imagine to be in her shoes:  the following morning after arriving in Guatemala, a foreign country to her, and there she was checking the final details of her wedding and having her bridal portraits with a photographer she has never met before,  except for a few email messages…   Thank God,  Hallie and I had a very good rapport from the first moment onward,  I felt like if I was taking pictures of a very good old friend!

One aspect that I enjoyed very much from their wedding was that they had live Cuban Music during the cocktail hour;  Ignacio and his Buena Vista de Corazón band are among the best live performances in La Antigua Guatemala. Check Ignacio and Buena Vista de Corazón on Thursdays and Fridays at Mesón Panza Verde. The other detail that I liked a lot was their wedding cake; it was decorated with Guatemalan indigenous textile  patterns.

These are some of the pictures of their Destination Wedding. Please check out the slide show at the end of the post!  (and please be patient, since it takes a little time to load!). Don’t forget to leave us your feedback and comments regarding the enchanting Destination Wedding of Hallie and Steve.

Please check this slide show and enjoy it !!!

The photos are absolutely beautiful. My fiance is from Guatemala and we are beginning to plan a wedding in Antigua for the end of 2009. Anyone have suggestions for the best resources in planning an event like this?

Hi I recently had a wedding in Guatemala, and I had the help of Helen Russ- a destination wedding planner in Guatemala. I can honestly say she is the best at what she does. You can ask Daniel or any major hotel in Guatemala and they will recommend her as well.

    Good luck
